HVAC/Refrigeration Technician

STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly

General Summary

The HVAC/Refrigeration Technician, under the direction of the Facilities Manager, is responsible for repairing and performing preventative maintenance on commercial and residential HVAC units and refrigeration equipment.  Ensures proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is supplied, used and maintained correctly.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Upholds the mission and values of SND USA.
  2. Integrates the charism, values, mission, and philosophy of the Sisters of Notre Dame in all services.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance and repair on commercial/industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment such as RTUs, boilers, chillers, and other HVAC/refrigeration equipment.
  4. Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot systems.
  5. Complete work orders and documentation of maintenance performed
  6. Report emergencies and safety issues; Respond to fire alarms and disaster calls; Respond to any calls and all emergencies arising in the facilities and on the grounds.
  7. Provide professional service and maintain positive relations.
  8. Must work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times
  9. Perform duties of other department members if adequate manpower is not available and the work assigned to them whether or not those particular duties are listed in the position description.
  10. Participate in training and/or schooling provided by the department and/or the institution for improving job performance and/or updating job skills.
  11. Work in a positive manner to enhance interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships and to promote efficiency and communications.
  12. Maintain appropriate licensure, certification, and competencies required to perform job responsibilities.
  13. Accept positive and constructive feedback in order to implement changes necessary to enhance performance and personal development.
  14. Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding the safety and security of sisters, students, staff, employees, and visitors.
  15. Ensure compliance with regulatory and compliance standards.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  1. Get themselves and the necessary tools/equipment onto the rooftop
  2. Work at heights
  3. Load and unload tools/equipment
  4. Lifting occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  5. Lifting to shoulder and overhead occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  6. Push/pull wheeled cart up to 150 lbs. and possibly heavier as required
  7. Ability to climb a ladder
  8. Extend reach overhead in a repetitive motion

Qualifications

  1. Two or more years of commercial/industrial or residential HVAC and refrigeration troubleshooting experience preferred.
  2. Technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service and troubleshoot HVAC, refrigeration equipment
  3. Universal Refrigerant Certification required
  4. Safety Awareness
  5. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
